Accordingly, this Court must be vigilant in assessing the effects of the prominent vertical integration in this case, as Defendants are both exhibitors and distributors and the merger places them within the same company. Defendants represent a unique entity. To understand the precise structure of this entity, this Court must consider Defendants in their entirety. To do otherwise would be shortsighted. Defendants are indeed the sum of all their parts, and they cannot evade scrutiny by partitioning themselves. Pieces of a puzzle viewed separately form unintelligible, irregular shapes, but considered together reveal a discernible [*82] image. n41 Thus, to allow fragmentation to provide an escape from responsibility would be to deal in illusion. This Court sees right through the cellophane fence that Defendants attempt to hide behind.

Theory that Santa Cruz is the hellmouth (in Buffy)

Where is Sunnydale located? - BuffyGuide.com Forums: "Theory Four: 380 miles between Sunnydale and Los Angeles.

from bcb83:

How do I know........?

Well as you may know they (Marti and Joss) used all of the collages from the University of California at Santa Cruz for the UC Sunnydale campus. And for my money Sunnydale IS Santa Cruz.

If you've lived there, or even visited for an extended amount of time than you know,.......it's a natural fit.

Santa Cruz is a sleepy and creepy little town just above Montery CA. It's fairly warm and has great beaches. The town is fairly low-rise and has the density and feel to be Sunnydale.

Do to an unfortunate comment by the local district attorney, Santa Cruz was nicknamed the 'Murder Capital' of the country in the early seventies.

Santa Cruz has numerous beautiful old cemetaries (five come to mind immediately and there are probably more). And a gratiutous amount of churches. Practically every flavor and splinter of Christian, Pagan, Buddist, Jew and Moslem (not to mention Masonic and Magical organizations) are staunchly represented in town even if it's just one guy shouting at the mall or praying in a basement.

The town is close to San Jose and the greater baya"

So depressed. This is like post 2000 sumemr tour where I cried in the car all the way home from ohio. We went out with quite a band, having a great party upstate that turned into summer camp. Days of playgin in the lake, soccer games, huge meals, and me getting over my fear of sleepign on the porch thanks to steeley dan.

This is definatelyt he world cup Ive been the most into for various reasons. I was on vacation for much of it, and there no more phish tour for me to obsess about (my headyness totally robbed me on interest in 1998). I got to watch every game of the last three weeks and they were all fabulous (except for ukraine switzerland, but what can you expect from the boring swiss). Even the games that sucked had some entire randomness that made them memorable (im still not over portugal v netherlands) Whiel peopel bitch abotu there being only europe teams in the top 4, none of them were particularly strong, which made a tournament where the dynamics were dictated not by a cindarella story but a desire to root for teams who played nice clean gamesd and villanize portugal and players whose names may literally translate into "pigf*cker".

All in all, i am very said now. time to refocus energy on karate and apartment redoing.

Irrational Hatred

Ive meant to blog this for a while now. Im lazy so Im copying franks explanation from his bloggy:

"So my friend Jaimee and I had this discussion the other day, and it wound up being pretty fun and hilarious. For whatever reason, there are a multitude of celebrities, shows, movies, athletes, etc. who, while we recognize their respective merits, we hate for absolutely no logical reason. And I don't mean hate in any fun, silly kind of way. I'm saying we hope they get hit by a bus tomorrow. If you asked why I hate any of the following, I couldn't give you any real answer other than "just because."

This all began because a friend of mine has an irrational hatred of Landon Donovan and vowed to turn me against him in 20 minutes or less, whcih he did succesfully (thoguh with much help from the Czech Republic team). Later that nigth whioe he was drunk he kept yellign about how all our bad foosball shots were taken by landon, and his dogged and obsessive perseverance made me really respect him more. And thus was born the irrational hatred game.

Daniel and I think its the greatest game ever because of course we over intellectuallize everything, so our over intellectualized reason for loving the game is that, by creating the construct of irrational hatred, you no longer need to intellectually struggle to form a rational and logically taut argument for your hatred. You just need to claim its irrational.* He was onto this idea immediately and I names Jude Law and he screamed that i just saved him years of mental anquish he had been experiencing tryign to articulate why he hated jude law as well.

So my list thus far (world cup edition):
David Eggers
Jude Law
Christiano Ronaldo
Napolean Dynomite
anythign relating to san francisco (debateable. i still maintain I have a rationale)
Prince Caspian

the above illustrates a larger divide in which Daniel, Frank andI went to se ethe premier of Darkon at the Los Angeles film festival, movie about peopel who participate in real life D&D in the woods involving pillow wrapped swords and a hectar by hectare land grab of suburban Baltimore. Afterwards frank and daniels coworker talked about how dorky those people must be, while Daniel and I pondered the complexity of the rules, why baner of laconia attempted something so apparently impossible from a strategic standpoint, and whether I could ingratiate myself into the community if I move to Dc.

today Im interested in media

Philly has the greatest PR team ever, because we all know thats it greatest use is for leaving really quickly and giving me something to irrationally hate.

The geographically impossible LES shirt

Sarah Stevens from Brooklyn said, "Those people are so annoying, but I'd rather have these ads than have them stop me on the street."

GERMANY-ITALY: Players' Quotes

No quotesfrom Ballack. Hopefully ther took him out back and shot him or something.

GERMANY-ITALY: Players' Quotes: "Lukas PODOLSKI (GER)
We were just two minutes away from penalties. We created the better chances over the course of the match, and in the second half, we had three absolutely clear-cut chances. I'm not making any accusations or complaints, though. That's just the way football is.

Philippe LAHM (GER)
I don't think that we played worse than Italy today. It's a bitter pill for us to swallow. We concentrated on one thing and kept our focus right until the end, except for that one attack of theirs. We definitely want to win the Third Place match though.

Of course we're disappointed and sad, because we had set our sights even higher. The Italians played well, but so did we. It's a pity that we lost the way we did in the last few minutes. "
